About The Position

Star of the West Milling Co. is seeking motivated, hardworking students to join our 2027 Internship Program. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on, real-world experience in the agriculture industry while learning from experienced professionals and gaining exposure to the many areas of our operations. During your internship, you will have the opportunity to experience a variety of operations and develop practical skills that complement your education. Interns will work alongside our experienced team members and gain valuable insight into careers in agriculture, agronomy, grain handling, milling, and related areas. This internship is designed to provide more than just work experience. You’ll have the opportunity to build professional relationships, strengthen your communication and teamwork skills, gain a better understanding of the agriculture industry, and explore potential career opportunities with Star of the West.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
• Must be pursuing a degree in agriculture or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with others.
• Hardworking, dependable, and willing to learn.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Interest in agriculture, agronomy, and the operations of the agriculture industry.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience with wheat testing, quality standards, and processes used to maintain product quality.
• Learn about crop conditions, identify potential issues, and understand factors that impact crop production.
• Work directly at your assigned location while gaining practical experience with agronomy-related tasks and day-to-day operations.
• Explore different career opportunities through job-shadowing experiences at your assigned location and at our corporate headquarters in Frankenmuth, Michigan.
• Experience a day in the field alongside agronomists and applicators to gain a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
• Present your internship experience, projects, and key takeaways to Star of the West management at the conclusion of the summer.
• Build professional relationships.
• Strengthen communication and teamwork skills.
• Gain a better understanding of the agriculture industry.
• Explore potential career opportunities with Star of the West.
