About The Position
Millwood Hospital, a UHS affiliated hospital, is a 134-bed mental health facility providing inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency treatment. Since 1971, Millwood has offered comprehensive care to children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Located in Arlington, TX, the hospital is Joint Commission accredited and part of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), a leading healthcare provider. This is an unpaid internship where students will be supervised by a Licensed Social Worker. Interns will rotate through inpatient units, work with various patient populations, and participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams. The internship aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the facility's impact on the community and its treatment methodologies.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program for social work, counseling or other related field and has met the requirements to participate in a practicum/internship
- Letter of recommendation from Practicum Advisor
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work, counseling or another related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Successful completion of background and drug screenings
Responsibilities
- Conduct Bio-psychosocial assessments
- Discharge planning and identifying resources within the community for aftercare
- Psychoeducational groups and therapeutic processing groups
