About The Position

The WESH 2/ CW18 News Internship Program is a paid, rigorous and highly competitive hands-on experience that provides individuals the opportunity to learn about the operations of a broadcast television station. You will develop news writing, producing, reporting, and digital media skills while learning from award-winning staff at WESH 2 News. Additional opportunities are available in the behind-the-scenes areas of production/studio operations, weather and marketing/promotions. Your internship will prepare you for work in a real newsroom, giving you opportunities in nearly every aspect of news production. Fall 2026 Session Application Window: July 1st, 2026 – Aug. 1st, 2026 Session: Sept. 21st, 2026 – Dec. 11th, 2026 Dates are subject to change WESH 2/CW18 offers paid internships in the departments below. Requirements

  • Must provide a cover letter with application.

  • Working knowledge of a meteorology curriculum or closely related program of study (for Weather internship).
  • Comfortable with height (for Production/Studio Operations).
  • Able to lift light equipment (for Production/Studio Operations).
  • Must attend orientation on the first day.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in marketing, advertising, promotion, or production (for Marketing/Promotions internship).

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside reporters, producers, and news managers to learn skills in nearly all aspects of television news production, including on-scene reporting, producing, video editing, research, and working at the assignment desk.
  • Learn the technical aspects of live news broadcasts, including robotic cameras, floor directing, lighting and show set-ups.
  • Learn how newsrooms publish content to digital platforms, analyze real-time online metrics, and research, write, and publish stories for WESH.com.
  • Work with meteorologists to learn the skills necessary in creating and delivering forecast information for a television and online audience.
  • Gain hands-on experience in marketing, advertising, promotion, or production.
  • Attend orientation on the first day.
  • Check in with assigned adviser upon entering the building.
