About The Position

raSmith is hiring a student for a summer 2027 internship in its Survey Services Division at the Brookfield, Wisconsin office, approximately 10 miles west of downtown Milwaukee. The intern will gain practical engineering and surveying experience through on-the-job training on real projects, working alongside experienced project managers, engineers, and technicians. The role provides opportunities to develop technical skills and problem-solving abilities.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Geospatial program at a U.S.-accredited college or university, or demonstrate a strong interest in geospatial studies.
• Have coursework in civil engineering.
• Have exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office products.
• Be able to solve basic engineering problems and demonstrate good decision-making skills.
• Be skilled at planning, including accurately scoping the length and difficulty of tasks and projects.
• Have excellent communication, detail orientation, and interpersonal skills, and be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Work in the field as part of a two-person survey field crew.
• Become familiar with survey equipment, data collection procedures, and work methods.
• Assist in preparing survey documents, including ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Plats of Survey, Certified Survey Maps, topographic maps, Transportation Plats, Condominium Plats, Subdivision Plats, legal descriptions, and other survey exhibits.
• Draft in AutoCAD Civil 3D on various survey projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
