About The Position

This position will gain knowledge, skills and experience in the Transportation Industry. The selected candidates will perform routine tasks under direct supervision across different work units within the department as well as actively participate in team projects and contribute to agency goals. Through cooperation, coordination and collaboration among the OneFDOT team, you will be contributing to a strong and empowering culture of TRREC: Trust, Relationships, Respect, Empowerment, and Communication. Requirements

• Basic math
• Use of personal computer (PC) and Microsoft Office Application Programs
• Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
• Communicate effectively with others and follow oral and written instructions
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide identification supporting citizenship or authority to work for the duration of program participation.
• Participants are required to comply with all statutes and rules and the Department’s policies, procedures, regulations, and Code of Ethics.
• You may be required to provide your Social Security Number to conduct required verifications.
• Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, will not be eligible for hire or promotion in the Career Service, or appointment in the Selected Exempt Service (SES) or Senior Management Service (SMS), unless they are registered with the Selective Service System (SSS) before their 26th birthday, or have a Letter of Registration Exemption from the SSS.

• Review, gain general knowledge, and perform technical tasks within one of the following focus tracks: Engineering Track - (STEM Majors recommended, explores Professional Engineering roles) Transportation Overview, Planning and Environmental Management, Roadway Design, Drainage, Structures, Geomatics, Traffic Operations, Geotechnical, Construction Materials, Construction Management, Maintenance, Structures Maintenance Transportation Track - (Any majors, explores transportation, in general, and how the agency contributes to providing a safe, efficient transportation system) Transportation Overview, Program Management, Work Program, Modal, Planning, Project Management, Construction, Traffic Operations, Maintenance, Safety Business Track - (Any majors, explores the business side of running an agency) Transportation Overview, Work Program, Financial Services, Procurement, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Facilities Management, Right of Way Administration, Legal, Executive Office Administration, Project Management, Emergency Management, Information Technology Self-Designed Track - (Any majors, explores specific areas for students desiring specific focus area(s)) Transportation Overview, One to three focus areas based on students’ interest/university requirements.
