About The Position

These year-round, part-time internships are designed for undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in an engineering or planning program. You will perform a variety of administrative, operational, and technical tasks within the Planning and Engineering Division or Mobility, Innovation & Technology Division in the Transportation Department. This will include opportunities for coordinating stakeholders for transportation planning meetings, use of Geographic Information Systems, project development and engineering reviews, and traffic engineering and operation exercises. This classification is in the unclassified service and is exempt from the Pima County Merit System Rules.

Requirements

Current enrollment in an accredited college or university at the undergraduate or graduate level in an engineering (e.g., mechanical, civil, electrical) or related science discipline appropriate to department's needs (e.g., hydrology, environmental sciences, architecture, watershed management, transportation, soil & water science, computer science, data analytics, etc.).
Valid driver license is required at time of application.
Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.
Successful candidate will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review.
Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history.

Nice To Haves

Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate level technology, civil engineering or planning degree program.
Previous course work in the systems, engineering or planning undergraduate or graduate programs.
Experience with written and verbal communication as illustrated by previous reports, presentations, or class participation.
Experience with/knowledge of transportation engineering/planning principles and methodologies, as demonstrated through coursework or prior work experience.

Responsibilities
