About The Position

This is an internship position where the individual will work on special projects with the leadership of Commissioner Denise Driehaus. The role involves supporting various projects with Commissioner's staff and other assigned staff, assisting with community and stakeholder engagement, drafting public-facing materials aligned with the county mission, performing administrative duties such as composing correspondence, handling phone calls, and managing documents. The intern may also assist with event support, agenda preparation, and digital communication efforts like newsletters.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Communications, or a related field applicable to governmental agency duties.
  • Basic knowledge of public sector budgeting and finance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Valid Driver’s License issued by the state of residency.
  • Valid motor vehicle insurance.
  • Vehicle to use in performing various responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Commissioner’s staff and other assigned staff to support various projects.
  • Assists with engagement of community members and stakeholders.
  • May draft material in line with the county mission for public disbursement.
  • Performs administrative duties; composes routine correspondence; receives and forwards incoming telephone calls; reproduces, files, and distributes documents.
  • May assist with event support & agenda prep.
  • Supports digital communication efforts i.e., newsletters.
