Job Summary The intern is a 10-12 week program focusing on developing skills in college students and exposing them to the dairy industry and California Dairies business. The position will be based in Visalia, California, or at one of our other manufacturing sites in California’s Central Valley. Interns will play a key role in learning the production process and/or support functions, gain valuable learning and development, and support both safety and quality aspects of the business. Interns will be assigned a specific assignment and/or project and will be expected to deliver a report-out of what they delivered and what they learned by the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate with various levels within the organization.
  • Must have the ability to trouble shoot problems and be persistent until a solution is found.
  • Must work in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures including use of safety equipment.
  • Must be willing to ask for assistance when the process is unclear.
  • Pursuit of a BS degree in Dairy or Food Science or other related field.
  • College level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate with upper management on a daily basis.
  • Excellent organizational and follow through skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Basic computational skills required.
  • Simple math reasoning required.
  • A well-modulated tonal volume is required with excellent diction skills needed.
  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must have the ability to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.

Responsibilities

  • Complete projects assigned, focus on delivery timetables and outcome.
  • Work with a specific function within our company to understand the operation, which may include production operations, quality, safety, accounting and finance, engineering and maintenance, human resources, member relations, and transportation.
  • Exposure to various leadership training courses
  • Learn some leadership skills
  • Complete various projects as assigned
  • Focus on delivery timetables and prioritization
