About The Position

This position involves greeting customers, answering and routing phone calls and emails, and providing information about department services. The intern will perform various secretarial support tasks, including handling routine calls, emails, and reports. Responsibilities also include accepting and reviewing customer applications, managing departmental mail and emails, updating appointments, recording statistics, and assisting department personnel as needed. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year office related experience required.
  • Basic skills operating Outlook Mail and Calendar, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Skill in operating a phone – transferring calls efficiently and tactfully.
  • Ability to deal professionally and courteously with the public, members of the legal community and other employees.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with individuals facing stressful and sensitive family law matters.
  • Ability to assist individuals with varied socioeconomic status and diverse social, religious, cultural or lifestyle beliefs or choices with discretion and without bias.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing).
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copier, and printer.

Responsibilities

  • Records various department statistics and maintains ongoing logs and lists.
  • Assists the department head and other personnel as needed.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Performs other related work as required.
