About The Position

The Project Management Group Intern will support the Sunnyvale Project Management (PM) team with ownership and execution of tasks designed to improve efficiency in sample handling, project coordination, and reporting processes. This role provides hands-on exposure to technical project management within a laboratory-based, high-tech environment supporting failure analysis and analytical services. The intern will work closely with Project Coordinators and Project Managers to assist with receiving and shipping customer samples, coordinating sample flow, tracking project status, and supporting administrative and reporting activities. The intern will manage small projects with deliverables that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the project management process in helping clients solve their materials-related problems. This internship is structured to build strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills while providing insight into how technical projects are managed from intake through completion.

Requirements

• No prior project management experience is required; training and mentorship will be provided.
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Excellent Attention to detail
• Interest in project coordination, problem solving, and technical environments
• Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint; Copilot experience a plus)
• Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, including with customers
• Confidence, initiative, and willingness to work independently after training
• Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset
• Creativity and interest in making processes more efficient and visually effective
• Comfortable managing multiple tasks and priorities on a weekly basis
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.
• Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
• Ability to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
• Ability to communicate clearly and understandably ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
• Ability to handle small and fragile devices with tweezers and /or fingers.
• Require close distance visual acuity with or without correction (Glasses, Contacts, etc.)
• Must be willing and able to wear PPE such as hard-hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, laboratory coat and/or any other devices or equipment that is required.
• Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
• Ability to move equipment or items up to 50 lbs.

• Preferred fields of study include: Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Other engineering or science degrees
• Copilot experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Receiving, organizing, and coordinating customer samples
