About The Position

As an Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) intern, you will work alongside engineers and scientists on hardware development, payload integration & operations, laboratory & test operations, modeling & simulation, space environments, scientific research and propulsion systems for programs like Human Landing Systems, Space Launch Systems and the International Space Station! Provide project integration intern-level support for MSFC’s Partnerships and Opportunity Development (POD) Office within the Partnerships, Analysis, Communications & Engagements (PACE) organization. POD serves as the Center’s Front Door where they believe that by building strategic collaborations, aligning opportunities with capabilities, and fostering innovation, they can drive meaningful impact for NASA, MSFC, our partners, and humanity. Support will be provided for the following duties/areas: Support integration activities across the organizations involved in developing partnerships, both internal and external to MSFC. Support technology identification and assessment, systems analysis support, and providing innovative strategies to facilitate utilization of Center technical capabilities. Provide support to meetings such as recording and reporting minutes, tracking and managing actions, and supporting action response including inputting and reformatting data, developing presentations, combining/compiling and trending data and developing and writing summaries as required to improve communications and understanding of information. Support calendar management, scheduling/hosting technical interchange meetings, and conducting lab tours for stakeholders. Support presentations and technical sessions engaging the public, external partners, MSFC organizations, students, and educators. Support Special Studies and Trade Studies in collaboration with the POD Office and other MSFC, NASA and industry stakeholders. Duties: Assist the POD Industry Engagement Manager by supporting integration activities related to opportunities and partnerships; assessment of partnership opportunities; presentations to industry, MSFC organizations, and the public; participate in special studies. Assist in the development of office procedures and digital tools.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science degree program in a STEM or other position-related degree (from an ABET accredited institution preferred) is required.
  • Must have completed the sophomore year of degree program.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation.
  • Maintains a minimum of a 3.0 out of 4.0 overall grade point average.
  • Exceptional communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated technical/business relationship and stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Basic technical understanding of space exploration in combination with business acumen.
  • Presentation and public speaking.
  • Documentation development including procedures, agreements, presentations, and office announcements.
  • Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%).
  • Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%).
  • Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%).
  • Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%).
  • Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings and test stands at NASA and Amentum facilities (10%).
  • Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
  • Normal workday is from 7:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%).
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
