About The Position

The Pharmacy Intern is primarily responsible for medication distribution functions and pharmacy operational tasks, including assisting the pharmacist with dispensing medications and regulatory compliance. This is a remote position. The position is administrative in nature and requires hearing, seeing, sitting, standing, talking, and walking. The employee must be able to commute to multiple site locations within the assigned territory, and may need to work extended hours. Schedules are set to accommodate the position and organizational needs and may be adjusted as needed.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) at an ACPE institution.
• Active Pharmacy Intern license for the state of Ohio.
• Team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Perform drug utilization reviews (DURs) of patient profiles to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug-related problems.
• Recommend alternative therapy when appropriate.
• Communicate with doctors’ offices and pharmacies regarding new prescriptions and transfers.
• Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
• Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens.
• Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
• Perform other duties as appropriate; duties may vary based on departmental needs.
