Intern - Imaging - PRN
About The Position
This internship in the Radiology department at UAB St. Vincent's East provides an opportunity for students enrolled in an accredited program specific to imaging to gain hands-on experience. Interns will work under direct supervision, assisting with patient preparation, positioning, and the selection of exposure factors. They will also be involved in implementing radiation protection and safety standards, preparing for and assisting technologists and physicians in various imaging procedures, and administering contrast media and medications as permitted. The role also includes maintaining a clean and orderly department environment.
Requirements
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
- High school diploma equivalency AND enrolled in an accredited program specific to discipline.
Responsibilities
- Provide services to patients under the direct supervision.
- Prepare and position patients and select exposure factors accurately.
- Implement radiation protection and safety standards.
- Prepare for and assist the supervising technologists and physicians in a variety of imaging procedures.
- Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
