About The Position

The Intern provides general support to an assigned department or team to work on a specific project/initiative or assist with day-to-day operations and organizational tasks. This role is designed for individuals with little to no prior work experience and offers hands-on exposure to a professional work environment. Duties may vary by department and are performed under close supervision, with training provided as needed. The AI Engineering Intern will work with the local IT team and business stakeholders to design, prototype, and support agentic AI solutions for Barnhardt Manufacturing Company. This role will focus on building practical AI agents, automating workflows, integrating large language models into internal processes, and helping deliver scalable AI capabilities that improve productivity and decision-making.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or currently enrolled in high school, college or a technical/training program preferred.
  • Basic ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions. Perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Familiarity with computers, email, and common office software (such as word processing or spreadsheets), as well as proficiency in using department-specific systems and tools.
  • Have a business mindset, a customer service-oriented attitude, strong communication skills, and a willingness to work with others.
  • Ability to prioritize, troubleshoot/resolve problems, and follow-through with internal clients.
  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Experience or strong interest in building AI agents and workflow automation solutions using OpenClaw and NemoClaw.
  • Working knowledge of major large language models (LLMs) and model providers, including how to evaluate, prompt, integrate, and orchestrate them for agent-based applications.
  • Required programming skills in Python and JavaScript for developing, testing, and maintaining AI-driven applications and integrations.
  • Understanding of API integrations, automation workflows, and connecting AI agents to business systems, tools, and data sources.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering, agent design patterns, debugging, and performance optimization for AI solutions.
  • Strong communication, written, and collaboration skills, with the ability to document technical solutions clearly.
  • High aptitude and willingness to learn new AI technologies, frameworks, and development practices.
  • A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, manage priorities, and contribute effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work for Barnhardt Manufacturing Co. in the U.S. without employer visa sponsorship. We do not sponsor H1-B or any other work visa category.

Responsibilities

  • Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations.
  • Perform tasks related to and required as determined by assigned project or department (see Additional and/or Department Specific Responsibilities section or Specific Duties and Responsibilities document for details).
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the assigned department.
  • Perform basic office tasks such as filing, copying, scanning, organizing documents, and data entry.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Use computer systems, software, apps, hardware and office equipment to complete assigned tasks.
  • Support team members with routine tasks, projects, or special assignments as directed.
  • Communicate professionally with team members and supervisors.
  • Participate in training opportunities and learn department-specific processes and tools.
  • Assisting with the design and development of AI agents using OpenClaw, NemoClaw, and major LLM platforms.
  • Building and maintaining Python and JavaScript code for AI-enabled applications and integrations.
  • Supporting prompt engineering, model testing, and evaluation workflows.
  • Connecting AI agents to internal systems, APIs, and business data sources.
  • Documenting technical solutions, experiments, and implementation steps.
  • Collaborating with IT and business teams to identify opportunities for automation and responsible AI adoption.
