About The Position

Join the American Society of Hematology’s Horizons in Hematology program and help support efforts to engage medical students and residents exploring careers in hematology. This role provides hands-on experience in virtual program coordination, community engagement, and communications within a national medical association.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate student (junior, senior, or graduate preferred)
  • Majors in Public Health, Communications, Health Administration, Business, or related fields
  • Strong writing, organization, and communication skills
  • Interest in healthcare, medical education, or nonprofit work
  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) – intermediate
  • Excel (basic formulas, sorting, filtering) preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with virtual platforms or community tools is a plus
  • You’re organized, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • You enjoy communication, coordination, and helping programs run smoothly—and you’re interested in how large healthcare organizations build and support professional communities.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning and execution of virtual events (webinars, community sessions)
  • Assist with scheduling, materials, and participant communications
  • Draft and organize program content and communications for staff review
  • Monitor and respond to program inbox inquiries
  • Help manage and update the online community platform
  • Track engagement activity and summarize key insights
  • Attend meetings and support administrative coordination (notes, timelines, materials)
