About The Position

The role: Are you interested in gaining hands-on experience through government, public policy, or communications? Business Oregon, the state’s economic development agency, is seeking an Industrial Lands and Business Recruitment Intern within the Global Trade & Recruitment Section. This is a full-time internship position starting in June 2026 and continuing through September 2026. The Global Trade & Recruitment Section supports the development and execution of an Oregon "Innovation Economy Plan" that identifies economic development opportunities for existing and emerging industries. As an intern, you'll work under the supervision of the Industrial Lands Specialist. Internship Details Position Available: Industrial Lands & Business Recruitment Intern Duration: June 2026 – September 2026. Positions are 10-12 weeks; timing is flexible within the summer months Hours: Full-time (32-40 hours per week) depending on the individual student Location: Hybrid remote work. Must have the ability to travel to Business Oregon offices in Portland and Salem for in-person meetings as business needs arise. Requirements

  • Students in their junior and/or senior year of college and graduate students in their first or second year at the time of hire (June 2026).
  • Interest in geography, economics, business, and/or international affairs
  • Conduct web-based research using web-browser and related tools
  • Familiarity with web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) usage and analysis (e.g. Google Earth, ArcGIS)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of tools (e.g. Word, Excel, and Teams)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with account management, property listings, analysis, and reporting within the Oregon Prospector website.
  • Research company information and write up summaries of industry type, company size, and import/export opportunities
  • Perform foreign direct investment research for companies currently located in the US and Oregon
  • Support semiconductor industry development in preparation for upcoming Semicon West and Semicon Japan conferences
  • Travel to industrial development sites or business sites throughout the state (potentially 1-2 days per month)
