About The Position

Hilltop Securities Inc. is currently looking for qualified students to join our Fixed Income Capital Markets team as a Summer Intern. This individual will work closely with our Fixed Income team to gain hands-on experience in the profession while assisting with several key initiatives across the company. They will develop entry-level experience in the financial services industry, including development and delivery of initiatives, and effective practices. Professional Development Objectives: Experience on a full service trading desk this individual will learn about products traded including corporate bonds, CD's, agencies, treasuries. This individual will also work on the taxable fixed income trading desk with Traders.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Rising Senior pursuing business, finance, economics, or related field is required, computer science a plus
• Computer hardware, operating system (Windows), and strong software/application (MS Office, Outlook, Excel, etc.) knowledge and skills
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
• Must possess a strong attention to detail
• Proven self-starter who can initiate tasks and follow up to completion
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills
• Desire to learn about career opportunities in the financial services industry
• Candidate MUST have authorization to work for any employer in the US without requiring sponsorship, whether in student status or not

Nice To Haves

• Some experience (0 – 1 year) is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Experience on a full-service sales and trading desk – this individual will learn about products traded including treasury, agency, corporate, municipal, and mortgage-backed bonds.
• Work on the taxable fixed income trading desk with Traders and Assistants on various projects using Bloomberg, Excel, and firm platforms.
• Work directly with Traders and Sales team
• Learn desk technique and strategy
• Work directly with the Strategies team to support sales and trading
• Assist with the development of fixed income analytical tools and reporting.
• Learn and assist in the streamlining of daily tasks and processes.
