Intern - Finance Division (Summer)
About The Position
The Finance Intern provides support to the finance team by assisting with accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, financial reporting, and administrative activities. The position offers hands-on experience in public-sector financial operations and opportunities to develop practical skills in fiscal management, compliance, data analysis, internal controls, and business processes. The intern may also assist with planning, coordinating, testing, documenting, training, and implementing agency projects and enterprise systems, including initiatives such as BISON. Under the supervision of finance professionals, the intern contributes to assignments and special projects that support organizational and strategic goals.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute when applying.
- Must be a current part-time or full-time student with a minimum of 6 credit hours in the upcoming or immediately preceding semester.
- By the start of the internship, should have completed one year (nine months) of the chosen program.
Nice To Haves
- Coursework in accounting, budgeting, financial management, data analysis, or business analytics is preferred.
- Interest in financial operations, reporting, process improvement, and supporting organizational initiatives.
- Preference may be given to applicants with junior or senior standing, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
