Intern - Engineering (Business Intelligence)

Microchip Technology Inc.Chandler, AZ
Onsite

About The Position

We are seeking an Intern to join our Business Intelligence team in Chandler, AZ. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building real things — backend services, internal tools, and data-driven applications that engineers and business teams use. You will work alongside experienced engineers on production-grade applications, cloud-adjacent infrastructure, and internal analytics platforms, with opportunities to explore large language model (LLM) integration where it adds genuine value. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. Expect to write code that ships, debug systems that matter, and present your work to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field — candidates who have already completed their degree are not eligible
  • Hands-on experience with Python (Pandas, data wrangling, webapp development)
  • Hands-on experience with web application frameworks: Flask, FastAPI, or Streamlit
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and Excel for querying and manipulating structured data
  • Hands-on experience with Git for version control
  • Ability to read a dataset, form a hypothesis, and communicate what it means in plain English — producing actionable findings
  • Comfortably operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift
  • Strong attention to detail and a bias toward impact over activity
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen — this position does not support visa sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Docker or containerized deployments
  • Experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, etc.) as part of a real development workflow
  • Exposure to BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar), understanding how dashboards are built and consumed
  • Interest in how pricing, sales operations, or supply chain data drives business decisions

Responsibilities

  • Build backend services, internal tools, and data-driven applications.
  • Work alongside experienced engineers on production-grade applications, cloud-adjacent infrastructure, and internal analytics platforms.
  • Explore large language model (LLM) integration where it adds genuine value.
  • Write code that ships.
  • Debug systems that matter.
  • Present work to stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Microchip Technology Inc is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
