About The Position

The Business Intelligence internship (10 to 12 weeks) is designed to provide hands on experience in healthcare analytics while building foundational skills in data management, reporting tools, and stakeholder support. By the end of the 10 to 12 week internship, the intern will develop a foundational understanding of how healthcare operational, financial, pharmacy, and clinical data are used to support decision making, gain hands on experience working with business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI in a real world healthcare environment, learn basic data management concepts, including data organization, validation, documentation, and reporting standards, build introductory skills in analyzing data for trends, accuracy, and usability, improve professional communication skills by collaborating with analysts and observing how data insights are presented to stakeholders, and understand the role of Business Intelligence within a healthcare organization and how data supports quality improvement and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree program related to data analytics, information systems, healthcare administration, computer science, or a related field.
  • Interest in healthcare data, reporting, and analytics.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft tools such as Excel and Power BI, or a willingness to learn
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and healthcare reporting concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also completing assigned tasks independently with guidance.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to communicate (orally and in written) in a professional manner
  • Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to maintain an established work schedule to ensure dependability, accuracy of work quality, and a harmonious, consistent work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Introductory understanding of databases, SQL concepts, or data structures is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Population Health Management tools is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting and organizing data from various internal systems, including financial, operational, pharmacy, and clinical data sources
  • Support the maintenance of reports and dashboards in alignment with established data standards
  • Help format data and reports to improve clarity, usability, and visual presentation.
  • Participate in basic data analysis activities to identify trends, patterns, and potential improvement opportunities.
  • Assist senior analysts with documentation, testing, and validation of reports and data outputs.
  • Observe and support presentations of data findings to leadership, management, and staff as part of the learning experience.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support team operations and learning objectives
