This internship opportunity is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience in supporting sales engineers in designing and selling commercial and industrial HVAC equipment and systems. Interns will work alongside multifunctional teams within MMS, gaining a strong introduction to engineered sales, the HVAC industry, and its role in the broader construction industry. The position is non-exempt (hourly) with a pay rate between $20 - $24 per hour, dependent upon qualifications.

Requirements

  • Working toward a two-year or four-year college degree in a STEM or HVAC program.
  • Preference for juniors and seniors enrolled in an engineering program.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis and does not require future sponsorship for an employment visa.
  • Ability to participate full-time (40 hours/week) for the full session.
  • Previous experience with the MS Office suite of products.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent critical-thinking skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to use logical judgments, especially when dealing with adjustments and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to take instruction and direction.

  • Relevant academic projects and/or internship experience (HVAC).

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with technical experts to learn HVAC products, applications, and systems, as well as the skills required for technical sales.
  • Assist in taking off, selecting, and pricing equipment based on plans, specifications, or direct conversations with engineers, under the direction of an experienced engineer.
  • Assist with the preparation of submittal documentation for engineering approval.
  • Help research and provide solutions to technical customer questions.
  • Engage with contacts at represented manufacturers to learn about their products, applications, and positioning.
  • Participate in sales support meetings and contribute ideas for team improvement.
  • Potentially visit job sites to observe pre-construction processes, in-construction sites, MMS-provided equipment in action, and customer engagements.
  • Work with Engineered Systems Specialists (ESS), Air Distribution Specialists (ADS), or Project Managers (PM) to assist with tasks such as generating customer quotes, preparing submittals, downloading project documents, processing orders, answering customer inquiries, managing projects, ensuring profitability, maintaining product knowledge, and fulfilling customer needs.
