About The Position

Calgary Economic Development (CED) is an organization focused on sparking and fueling Calgary’s growth by connecting people with resources to advance their careers or businesses and thrive in the community. CED promotes Calgary both nationally and internationally. TalentED is a program under the CED portfolio that aims to create 2,000 work-based learning opportunities for youth aged 18–24 by engaging small- to medium-sized businesses and non-profit organizations in the Greater Calgary region. This initiative seeks to strengthen employer engagement with youth through innovative and collaborative methods. The Employer Engagement Intern will join TalentED’s Employer and Community Engagement team to advocate for the benefits of hiring youth for work-based learning (WBL) opportunities. The intern will support various employer engagement activities, working closely with Employer Engagement Specialists and the Manager of Employer and Community Engagement. This is a 12-week summer internship opportunity with a minimum in-office requirement of three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Research various industries to compile lists of prospective for-profit and non-profit employers aligned with TalentED priorities.
  • Support outreach efforts by connecting prospective employers with Employer Engagement Specialists through email, LinkedIn, phone, or in-person events.
  • Draft employer outreach and follow-up communications using approved templates, and support coordination of stakeholder meetings as needed.
  • Follow-up with employer WBL postings on the TalentED Matching Platform to support posting extensions, provide updates on applicant activity, and maintain ongoing relationships.
  • Assist in aligning employer requests with available programs, youth cohorts, or partners (under Specialist guidance).
  • Help vet new postings, track placement progress and flag outstanding information or follow-ups.
  • Assist with organizing, updating, and distributing employer tools (posting templates, project templates, WBL resources).
  • Help maintain clear and accessible resources and documentation (e.g., organized SharePoint folders).
  • Support preparation of materials for employer workshops or information sessions.
  • Assist in the tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs), including employers outreached, 1:1 consultations scheduled, and follow-up activities.
  • Enter and maintain accurate employer interaction records in the CRM system, HubSpot, as needed.
  • Support quality assurance checks and follow up internally or with employers for missing or incomplete data.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of employer-facing events, including job fairs, networking sessions, and virtual information sessions.
  • Support registration tracking, attendance lists, and post-event follow-ups.
  • Collect and summarize employer feedback from events.
  • Attend meetings and document action items.
  • Assist with maintaining organized team files, trackers, and templates.
  • Support ad hoc tasks and projects related to employer engagement activities.
