About The Position
Advanced Energy is seeking Electrical Engineering Interns and Co-op students to support development activities across our North American design sites. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers on the design, testing, and implementation of power conversion, controls, and measurement solutions. Interns will have opportunities to gain hands-on experience in product development, laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and engineering analysis. This position is located in Eden Prairie, MN.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Coursework in circuits, electronics, signals and systems, power systems, controls, or related subjects
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
Nice To Haves
- Experience with laboratory test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, or logic analyzers
- Experience with circuit design and analysis
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, LTspice, PSpice, or similar engineering tools
- Experience with CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB design
- Experience with embedded systems or microcontrollers
- Programming in C, C++, Python, or MATLAB
- Experience with serial communication protocols such as UART, SPI, or I²C
Responsibilities
- Support product development projects as part of a cross-functional engineering team
- Assist with testing and troubleshooting prototype hardware
- Collect, analyze, and document test results
- Support design verification activities in the laboratory
- Learn and apply engineering principles to solve technical problems
- Assist with circuit design and evaluation
- Participate in modeling and simulation activities
- Help develop documentation, reports, and presentations
- Collaborate with engineers across design, manufacturing, and test teams
