About The Position

Legal Aid DC is seeking an undergraduate intern to join its Development Department for Spring 2027. The 12-week internship runs from January 8, 2027, through April 2, 2027. Interns receive substantive assignments intended to have an immediate impact on clients, and Legal Aid will help spring semester interns receive course credit. Interns work from Legal Aid’s offices in Northwest DC, with the option to perform some work remotely if approved by their supervisor. Spring interns should expect to work at least 12 hours per week. Legal Aid’s Development Department raises more than $10 million annually. Its funding includes government grants, primarily allocated by the DC Bar Foundation, as well as fundraising from the DC legal community, law firms, individual attorneys, and other supporters. The department communicates the impact and importance of Legal Aid’s work, learns about supporters’ philanthropic priorities, and expresses gratitude for their contributions. Interns will support donor communications and documentation, maintain the DonorPerfect donor database, and research current and prospective funders. Interns may receive a scholarship of up to $2,650 for the 12-week internship. Scholarship funding is unavailable to interns who receive outside funding for the internship or participate through a school program that precludes payment.
