About The Position

The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides college students with hands-on experience in various facets of a non-profit, voluntary health organization. This internship offers an opportunity to support impactful campaigns such as Heart of Colorado & Heart Ball, Go Red for Women, Heart Walk, and CycleNation. Interns will contribute to the planning, execution, and follow-up of these life-saving initiatives. The Association supports work-life harmonization through resources like Heart U, its award-winning corporate university, and provides local and National Center training and support. Requirements

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, marketing, event planning, public relations, or a related field are preferred.
  • Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
  • Experience with event planning for a non-profit or for-profit organization.
  • Experience with public speaking and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Event Coordinators, Development Directors, and Market Leadership to support fundraising campaigns in the Denver market, including Heart of Colorado & Heart Ball, Go Red for Women, Heart Walk, and CycleNation.
  • Provide assistance with the development and implementation of fundraising activities, logistics, and administrative support.
  • Assist with pre-campaign planning, day-of-event execution, and post-campaign wrap-up projects.
  • Assist with volunteer management, including preparing for and attending externally facing meetings (both in-person and virtual).
  • Conduct prospect research to generate new leads and compile information for fundraising campaigns.
  • Support Hands-Only CPR demonstrations.
