About The Position

The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides college students with hands-on experience in various facets of a non-profit, voluntary health organization. This internship focuses on supporting fundraising campaigns such as Heart of Colorado & Heart Ball, Go Red for Women, Heart Walk, and CycleNation. Interns will play a key role in driving the success of these impactful campaigns through planning, execution, and follow-up tasks. The Association offers resources for work-life harmonization, including access to Heart U, its corporate university, and local/national training and support. Requirements

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, marketing, event planning, public relations, or a related field are preferred.
  • Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
  • Experience with event planning for a non-profit or for-profit organization.
  • Experience with public speaking and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Reliable WiFi Connection.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Event Coordinators, Development Directors, and Market Leadership to support fundraising campaigns in the Denver market. Campaigns include Heart of Colorado & Heart Ball, Go Red for Women, Heart Walk, and CycleNation.
  • Assistance with the development and implementation of fundraising activities, logistics, and administrative support.
  • Assistance with pre-campaign planning, day of event execution, and post-campaign wrap-up projects.
  • Assist with volunteer management including prepping for and attending externally facing meetings (both in-person and virtual.)
  • Conduct prospect research to generate new leads and compile information for fundraising campaigns.
  • Support Hands-Only CPR demonstrations
