The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. We have an exciting opportunity for an intern on our San Antonio Development Team. As an intern supporting our Heart Walk, Go Red for Women, and Heart Ball events, you will play a key role in driving the success of these impactful campaigns. Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the planning, execution, and follow-up of these life-saving initiatives. Internship Overview: Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week Internship Duration: 9/8/26-12/11/2626 Location: In office position in San Antonio, TX or the immediate surrounding area Salary: $23.00 per hour Internship Outcomes: Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to: Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in a non-profit environment. Requirements

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, marketing, event planning, public relations, or a related field are preferred.
  • Experience with public speaking and engaging with the community in group settings and 1 on 1.
  • Must be comfortable with vendor outreach (phone calls & emails to vendors & donors).
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
  • Experience with event planning for a non-profit or for-profit organization.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Canva.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Reliable WiFi Connection.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of fundraising activities, logistics, and administrative support for the San Antonio market.
  • Work with Development Coordinators, Development Directors, and Market Leadership to support the Heart Walk, Go Red for Women, and Heart of San Antonio fundraising campaigns.
  • Assistance with pre-campaign planning and post-campaign wrap-up projects.
  • Execute external calls and emails to donors, volunteers, and 3rd party vendors.
  • Work within event support systems such as Luminate and Tableau to help manage data entry and run reports.
  • Develop and update marketing materials for campaigns, including save the dates, invitations, social media posts, volunteer rosters, and other needed collateral to assist in campaign promotion.
  • Assist with volunteer management, including prepping for and attending externally facing meetings (both in-person and virtual)
  • Conduct prospect research to generate new leads and compile information for fundraising campaigns.
  • Support community impact events such as pop-up produce events and hands-only CPR demonstrations.
