About The Position

At Alto, we are actively contributing to the transformation of Canada's future with our high-speed train project connecting Quebec City and Toronto. With the support of the Government of Canada, this innovative project aims to improve the quality of life of our citizens, strengthen ties between communities and stimulate economic growth. We are looking for a data analysis intern to support the planning, coordination, and analysis of data as part of our engagement with the Canadian public. Reporting to the Manager, Market and Data Intelligence, the successful candidate will actively contribute to the collection, structuring, and analysis of data from various engagement tools (online surveys, interactive maps, digital platforms, etc.). They will also help monitor the performance of engagement activities and produce analyses to inform decision-making. This internship is primarily intended for a student nearing the end of their academic program who wishes to earn academic credits through an internship. It offers a concrete opportunity to contribute to a large-scale project in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment. We are looking for a curious, thorough, and self-motivated individual capable of thriving in a changing environment and demonstrating initiative, sound judgment, and a strong attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a university program (completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree) in a relevant field: analytics, statistics, economics, business administration, marketing research, or a related field.
  • Experience in data analysis (academic or practical).
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Familiarity with analytical tools (advanced Excel, Power BI, R, Python, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking.
  • Rigorous approach, attention to detail, and ability to handle data in a structured manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingualism (French and English, spoken and written).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of survey platforms (Granicus, Qualtrics, or SurveyMonkey) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop, structure, and publish survey questionnaires online.
  • Coordinate the operational aspects of data collection tools.
  • Monitor the performance of engagement activities (participation and completion rates) and produce dashboards and follow-up analyses.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analyses (demographic and geographic segmentation, thematic analysis, trends).
  • Ensure data quality by identifying inconsistencies, duplicates, gaps, or errors and proposing corrections.
  • Document analytical methodologies and processes to ensure rigor and reproducibility.
  • Contribute to the production of analytical summaries, reports, and strategic deliverables.
  • Collaborate with various teams (communications, engagement, strategy) to maximize the value of the collected data.
