About The Position

Labcorp is seeking an Intern to join our Core Automated Testing and Immunology Team located in Indianapolis, Indiana! This internship will support a strategic initiative to develop a comprehensive inventory and repository of clinical samples and assay materials used for assay lot-to-lot comparability and lifecycle management. Through close collaboration with laboratory scientists, validation teams, and operational leaders, you will gain hands-on experience in laboratory processes, data management, sample tracking, and continuous improvement efforts that directly support clinical trial testing and future assay development activities. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • Strong interest in laboratory operations, sample management, immunology, bioanalytical testing, or clinical research.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify process improvement opportunities, and develop practical solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other data management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings to scientific teams.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and a desire to learn laboratory and scientific processes.
  • Maintains professionalism, reliability, and accountability in a regulated laboratory setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2027 through June 2029 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with laboratory scientists to create and maintain an inventory of validation study samples, assay reagents, and controls
  • Assess current sample storage and tracking practices and develop recommendations for a centralized assay and sample repository strategy.
  • Support the collection, organization, and analysis of historical assay data and sample information to facilitate assay lot-to-lot comparability activities.
  • Collaborate with laboratory teams to establish standardized processes for sample retention, retrieval, documentation, and long-term repository management.
  • Utilize laboratory databases and inventory management tools to improve sample traceability and operational efficiency.
  • Present project findings and recommendations to laboratory leadership and cross-functional stakeholders at the conclusion of the internship.
