About The Position

The Foundling’s External Affairs Department is looking for a charismatic, outgoing and highly motivated Communications and Policy Intern to join our team. This position supports the organization’s efforts to craft internal and external communications, manage budgetary and legislative requests, and implement our policy strategy. Our team will work with our intern to actively develop critical skills in these areas while providing insight into the nuance of our work.

Requirements

  • High School / G.E.D.

Responsibilities

  • Assist External Affairs and Communications staff with daily tasks.
  • Provide support in producing social media content, policy updates, and legislative alerts.
  • Support the monitoring of legislative and policy updates relevant to all divisions of The Foundling, including city, state, and federal hearings, legislation, budget, and advocacy efforts.
  • Create and manage an annual communications and editorial calendar for internal communications, working collaboratively with staff across The Foundling’s operation teams and programmatic service lines.
  • Create and design invitations, flyers, and other collateral material needed by programs and operation departments.
  • Support The Foundling’s monthly staff newsletter (engage staff across the organization to connect with newsletter content and encourage the submission of content and sharing content ideas).
  • Regular and punctual time and attendance, and adherence to The Foundling’s and your department’s specific time and attendance policies and protocol.
  • Consistent demonstrated commitment to The Foundling’s mission, vision, and values (Compassion, Dignity, Family and Community, Diversity, Excellence).
  • Adherence to The Foundling’s employee policies, Code of Conduct and applicable rules, laws, regulations, or bargaining agreements.
  • All other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned.
