About The Position

Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, serving 6.8 million residents across 68 Lower Peninsula counties. The Forestry internship program is designed for current college students passionate about natural resources and outdoor work, focusing on skill development, ability enhancement, and knowledge application to complement classroom instruction.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources, Forestry, Environmental Science, Conservation or Arboriculture
  • Currently pursuing a technical related Bachelor's degree
  • Currently pursuing an Engineering-related Master's while having completed a Bachelor's in applicable field
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 2.7 or higher

  • Attitude and aptitude to learn new skills and concepts
  • Ability and willingness to work independently or as part of a team to complete tasks
  • Prior work and/or internship experience
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting and planning necessary tree work for a wide range of projects
  • Auditing completed tree work
  • Data collection, analysis, and input
  • Assist with tree inventories, vegetation management plans, tree removal assessments, and other utility forestry field activities
  • Potential storm-related events
