About The Position

Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, serving 6.8 million residents across 68 Lower Peninsula counties. The Customer Experience Internship Program is designed for current college students or recent graduates interested in project management, strategy, sales, marketing, economics, innovation, or data analytics, with a passion for Consumers Energy and the energy industry. This internship is a key component in achieving the Customer organization’s goals. Interns will assist subject matter experts in making critical business decisions, gaining exposure to a wide range of energy industry issues. The role challenges analytical skills, creativity, business acumen, interpersonal skills, and leadership. The successful candidate will primarily assist in delivering operational strategic initiatives focused on performance metrics, process efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include delivering insights on market trends, benchmarking, and process improvement; analyzing the impacts of business and regulatory proposals; and managing the development of executive-level presentations. This position offers an opportunity to develop core problem-solving skills akin to a strategy consultant, exploring pressing industry challenges and developing strategies for senior executives. This posting is for collecting resumes for potential summer 2027 or part-time internship opportunities. Requirements

  • Enrolled and actively pursuing a bachelor or master's degree in the business field majoring in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Data Analyst, Marketing, Communications, Leadership, Regulatory, Policy, Political Science, or a similar field.
  • Minimum GPA requirement for this internship position is 3.0.
  • Must be within a commutable distance from the assigned location(s) or willing to find accommodations.
  • Not eligible for immigration sponsorship (H-1B, TN, etc.).
  • Not eligible for CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT.

Nice To Haves

  • Capable of working as a part of a small, multi-disciplinary team to tackle pressing company issues.
  • Accurately perform financial, statistical and scenario modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the delivery of operational strategic initiatives, focused on achieving performance metrics, process efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver knowledge and research on market trends, benchmarking and process improvement techniques.
  • Analyze the strategic, operating, and financial impacts of business proposals and/or external regulatory /legislative proposals.
  • Manage the development of executive level presentations as an effective communication vehicle.
  • Explore the most pressing and potentially disruptive forces facing the utility and energy industries today and develop strategies that will aid senior executives in making decisions.
