The Process & Production Chemical Engineering Internship Program gives current undergraduate Chemical Engineering students hands-on experience in an industrial setting supporting LNG operations, process engineering, production systems, and large-scale energy infrastructure. Interns work with engineers and subject matter experts, collaborate with technical teams, participate in professional development activities, and gain insight into the development, commissioning, and operation of LNG facilities. Assignments vary according to business needs, priorities, and student interests; placement on a specific team is not guaranteed. The internship is based at an active jobsite in Brownsville, Texas, and is expected to last approximately 10 weeks during Summer 2027. Interns may work on process engineering, production and operations support, or technical and strategic projects. The position operates in a complex construction environment with office and field work, indoor and outdoor conditions, and exposure to weather, moving mechanical parts, electrical circuits, and distracting noise. Interns must be able to wear required PPE and meet the physical and communication demands described in the posting, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with ADA-recognized disabilities. NextDecade offers project-based engineering experience, exposure to LNG production and energy infrastructure, networking and professional development opportunities, site exposure, and insight into energy-industry career opportunities. The internship program also includes executive speaker sessions, learning sessions, and collaborative activities intended to support personal and professional growth.
