About The Position

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians. The Intern, BTS (Technical) reports directly to the Oracle Fusion Technical Manager and will support the ongoing operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Seaspan’s Oracle Fusion application ecosystem. The role begins with supporting day-to-day operational activities across enterprise applications, including incident management, documentation, and service request coordination. The intern will take on broader responsibilities such as participating in business process analysis, testing activities, and troubleshooting integration. The intern will also have the opportunity to contribute to initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency, governance, and support processes across the Oracle Fusion technical landscape. This position provides exposure to multiple technical workstreams, including security, integrations, reporting, and IT service management, offering a well-rounded experience in enterprise application support within a large organization. Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 889 Harbourside Dr, North Vancouver.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Information Systems, or related undergraduate program
  • Basic understanding of enterprise systems, ERP platforms, or cloud technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to document processes clearly and follow structured procedures
  • Familiarity with Excel and data analysis
  • Strong initiative, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong academic results.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to IT service management concepts (incident, service request handling) is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, categorize, prioritize, and route incidents and service requests
  • Assist in service request management and escalation tracking
  • Support the development and standardization of operational procedures and documentation
  • Participate in business process analysis, mapping, and testing activities
  • Assist in system operations, including security support and post–go-live stabilization activities
  • Support ongoing business process enhancements and application support initiatives
  • Monitor and assist with troubleshooting integration issues and coordinate resolution with relevant teams
  • Maintain documentation repositories and support audit/readiness activities
  • Provide general operational and administrative support as required
  • Perform additional ad-hoc analysis and tasks as assigned
