About The Position
The Reading Fightin Phils Broadcasting & Social Media internship offers upperclassmen and recent college graduates hands-on experience in Minor League Baseball. The intern helps tell the story of Fightin Phils baseball through game broadcasts and social media content, combining broadcast production, content creation, and social media strategy. The position provides an opportunity to build a portfolio in sports media. The ideal candidate is a creative, energetic communicator who is passionate about sports and content creation, works well with a team, maintains a positive attitude, and adapts to changing needs. The intern supports broadcast preparation and production, creates and publishes content across social media platforms, and contributes to marketing campaigns, promotions, and fan experiences. The role also includes event and community support, collaboration with other departments, and other front-office tasks as needed. The intern is expected to comply with the Reading Fightin Phils’ philosophy, policies, goals, and budget.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as an upperclassman or a recent college graduate.
- Photography and videography experience.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro.
- Strong verbal communication and storytelling skills.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a group.
- Willingness to learn and try new things.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, including all home games.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Communications, broadcasting, sports media, or marketing studies or background preferred.
- Knowledge of Illustrator or After Effects.
- Experience with social media scheduling and analytics tools such as Loomly, Sprout Social, or native platform insights.
- Knowledge of baseball.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and production of game broadcasts.
- Gain hands-on experience with media equipment, broadcast software, and media operations in a professional sports environment.
- Interview players, coaches, and staff for broadcast, digital, and social content.
- Help create and execute engaging content across Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
- Capture and edit photos and videos during games and events for timely publication.
- Develop graphics, videos, reels, and written posts consistent with organizational strategy and brand standards.
- Capture real-time game coverage and identify compelling moments and stories for digital content.
- Monitor social media channels, respond to comments, and engage with followers.
- Collaborate with the marketing team on campaigns and promotions, including ticketing initiatives, theme nights, daily promotions, sponsored elements, and fan experiences.
- Brainstorm and implement initiatives that encourage user-generated content.
- Participate in weekly creative-content meetings and brainstorming sessions.
- Provide weekly project and performance updates to the supervisor.
- Attend and contribute to on-site activations and community appearances.
- Assist front-office staff with other tasks as they arise.
- Shadow and learn about other departments.
- Perform job tasks in compliance with the philosophy, policies, goals, and budget of the Reading Fightin Phils.
