About The Position

Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air interns join teams across departments and contribute to visible projects affecting guests and the business. Interns gain hands-on experience and opportunities to network with employees and company leaders through intern events and programming. This internship is for summer 2027, runs full-time for 12 weeks, and offers two program timelines to align with different academic calendars. It is located in Renton, Washington; candidates who are not already in the internship city must relocate for the internship. The internship is intended to provide skill development and work experience and does not guarantee future employment.

Under the direction of a manager and team leads, the BI Analyst Intern supports analytics work that combines data sources to generate insights into business problems and align performance with company goals, action plans, key performance indicators, and progress metrics. The intern provides analytical support and data for ad hoc analysis, helps optimize the analytics portfolio and internal customer experience, and develops the ability to independently analyze large business questions and produce actionable analysis or reporting. The role also develops technical skills in Python, SQL, Tableau, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with at least one semester or quarter remaining after the internship.
• Have achieved junior or higher academic standing at the time of application.
• Undergraduate major related to mathematics, economics, operations research, finance, statistics, business, computer science, or technical/engineering.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Proven analytical skills through coursework and/or research.
• Ability to balance multiple projects and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
• Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development.

Nice To Haves

• SQL experience.
• Tableau experience.

• Support analytical experiments and models that blend data sources to develop insights into business problems and align performance with strategic goals, action plans, key performance indicators, and progress metrics.
• Provide analytical support and relevant data to different areas of the company for ad hoc analysis.
• Help ensure the analytics portfolio is optimized and efficient for the best internal customer experience.
• Develop the ability to independently analyze large business questions by manipulating data sources to create actionable analysis and reporting.
• Build collaborative working relationships across business, operational, and technical workgroups.
• Develop technical skills using Python, SQL, Tableau, Excel, and PowerPoint.
