About The Position

Axiom Space is seeking a curious, detail-oriented Data Analyst Intern to help ensure the accuracy and reliability of enterprise analytics as the company modernizes its data pipelines. The Digital Integration team maintains an analytics environment that provides leadership and program teams with KPI visibility across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering. The intern will work on bounded projects with clear deliverables alongside a Data Analyst and Data Engineer, reporting to the Manager of Digital Integration. This is a mentored learning role in which work is reviewed and the intern will complete a portfolio of real work.

The internship is onsite at Axiom Space in Houston, Texas, from June 1 to August 20. Interns are responsible for arranging their own transportation and accommodations. Work may involve access to Finance, Supply Chain, and Engineering data, with access to data models and datasets limited to approved, role-based access under supervision. Candidates must qualify as a U.S. person under export control laws, be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation, and sign confidentiality and intellectual property agreements as a condition of the internship.

Requirements

• Be a rising junior, senior, or graduate student (MS/MA or Ph.D.) pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Coursework or project experience with SQL, including joins, aggregations, and filtering.
• Working knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and formulas.
• Exposure to Power BI or a similar tool such as Tableau through coursework or personal projects.
• Strong attention to detail and a habit of checking one's own work.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining findings to non-technical audiences.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under U.S. export control laws (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual).
• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
• Must sign Axiom Space's confidentiality and intellectual property agreements as a condition of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Validate data during pipeline modernization by comparing outputs from existing and new sources, including row counts, totals, and key metrics, and documenting discrepancies.
• Test Power BI reports after dataset changes to confirm figures remain accurate and log results.
• Document KPI definitions, business logic, and DAX measures in a central reference for a governed, single-source-of-truth metrics layer.
• Build and maintain a data dictionary covering tables, fields, grain, and source mappings.
• Review data quality exception reports, identify recurring patterns, and summarize findings for the team.
• Develop Power BI dashboards or report pages for internal stakeholders using approved data models, under review by a senior team member.
• Support user acceptance testing by writing test cases and coordinating feedback from business users.
• Present a summary of work to the team and IT leadership at the end of the internship.
• Perform additional job duties as assigned.
