About The Position

NiSource is currently seeking a Summer Asset Management Intern. Successful applicants will become integral members of the department while learning within a team environment, completing meaningful tasks and collaborating with team members and leaders on important projects. This position will be a great opportunity for the candidate desiring to launch their career in this field. Successful applicants will build professional relationships with other interns and all levels of NiSource personnel while participating in rewarding professional development exercises and fun, team-building activities. Interns will obtain a broad overview of NiSource's operations and current events in the utilities industry. This is a 12-week summer internship program starting in May 2027, for students entering their junior or senior year in fall 2027. The role is based in Merrillville, IN or Wheatfield, IN. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location to be eligible. This role will assist and be under the guidance of other renewable generation staff working on projects to meet various utility facility needs. This position may also require the successful candidate to evaluate and provide project management support of electric generation facilities at various levels of complexity.

Requirements

  • This position requires a current student of an ABET accredited, four-year engineering, business or operations program
  • High importance placed on the ability to express technical and/or business and/or operations concepts effectively, both verbal and written
  • High consideration for those candidates with interpersonal skills which are effective in communication with internal and external customers.
  • Desire a quick learner with the willingness to remain flexible in various work assignments.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal agreements.
  • Current student of an accredited, four-year Engineering, Business or Operations program
  • Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study
  • Ability to work 40 hrs/week
  • Proficiency with PC applications and prefer strong skills with M365
  • Proven communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location to be eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting and analyzing data and reviewing records.
  • Collecting information and creating work orders and/or purchase requisitions
  • Perform field measurements
  • Employees may be required to support emergency response efforts, which could include working outside normal hours or assisting with tasks outside of typical responsibilities.
  • Employees are expected to follow safety requirements, report hazards, and help maintain a safe environment for themselves and their coworkers.
