About The Position

AgCredit is a cooperative agricultural lending institution committed to creating lifelong opportunities for its customers and employees. Headquartered in Fostoria, OH, AgCredit serves over 7,000 member-owners across 15 lending offices in 18 counties in northwest and central Ohio. As part of the Farm Credit System, AgCredit returns profits to its members through a patronage program. This internship offers the opportunity to develop knowledge about AgCredit, ACA, and the Farm Credit System's operations, products, and services, and how they relate to the agricultural community. The intern will contribute to the successful operations of the cooperative by assisting with various administrative departments, including accounting/reporting, credit, audit/risk management, and human resources. The position requires compliance with all AgCredit, ACA policies and procedures and maintaining regular, punctual attendance.

Requirements

  • At least one year of post-secondary education and working towards a 2 or 4 year degree in business, accounting, finance, human resources, management, or agriculture.
  • Reside in one of the counties serviced by AgCredit.
  • Have an interest in agriculture and/or agriculture business.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and required formats to recognize and correct correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, move easily from one project to another, and be flexible in the workplace.
  • Ability to travel to branch offices as well as locations inside and outside the association for training.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with various departments within the Administrative Office, including Accounting and Operations, Reporting, Audit and Risk Management, Human Resources, Credit, and Legal.
  • Undertake projects such as assisting operations with daily banking reconciliation, performing research for policy and procedure creation, managing engagement activities, auditing and updating employee/customer data, creating electronic forms, and attending community events for the marketing department.
  • Be flexible and willing to travel to any Lending Offices to help with special projects as assigned.
  • Learn about the Farm Credit System and AgCredit’s administrative operations job functions for various departments.
  • Develop skills to execute assigned accounting, reporting, marketing, human resources, and training job responsibilities, potentially using Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and other database tools.
  • Complete assignments and projects within the specified timeframe.
  • Submit a written evaluation of the internship experience to the Director of Human Resources during the last week of the internship.
  • Attend intern orientation and training programs, and become familiar with written materials.
  • Review information packets and participate in project orientation if assigned.
  • Shadow and work closely with designated team members to understand various job functions and gain exposure to different approaches to tasks.
  • Utilize and enhance Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and/or SSRS reporting skills.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
