Job Summary Intermodal Heavy Duty Mechanics perform major and minor repairs, overhauls and servicing on all types of vehicles, vehicle attachments and material handling equipment. This position requires you to work night shifts and partial weekends, as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Diploma of Vocational Studies in Heavy Duty Mechanic.
  • Diesel mechanic, Automotive, Truck & Coach, Hydraulics experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Technical knowledge of diesel mechanics. Qualified 310T/421A mechanics.
  • Possess your own tools sufficient to perform repairs and service on small equipment. Tools specific to the railway are supplied by the company.
  • Must meet all medical fitness for duty requirements for the position, including requirements for Safety

Nice To Haves

  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electronic systems.
  • Commercial Transport or preferably Heavy Duty Working experience.
  • Welding skills.
  • Relevant work experience in similar working conditions or regulatory/safety environment.
  • Post-secondary education.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service and maintain Intermodal cranes, terminal tractors, vehicles and equipment, in accordance with federal and company regulations, including changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts.
  • Diagnose diesel / gas engine, electrical, hydraulic, driveline malfunctions and making required repairs. Use electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, lubrication equipment and other vehicle repair tools and equipment, and operate said tools and machinery in a safe and effective manner.
  • Use measuring devices and understanding visual displays.
  • Repair various yard equipment machinery.
  • Prepare inspection, maintenance, and work reports, and record details on prescribed forms in accordance with established procedures.
