About The Position

RFNOW Inc. is seeking applications from motivated individuals to join our Construction and Maintenance Team. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to be part of a growing team of technicians working to maintain all of our medium and heavy-duty construction equipment throughout the year. You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and overhauling heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. This role is ideal for a responsible, independent, and self-motivated mechanic who thrives on being challenged with on-the-spot repairs at various field locations.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Ticket as Heavy Duty Mechanic preferred – proficiency in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • 3-5 years’ experience with heavy equipment repair in a similar position.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required – Class 3 License would be an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and software.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Keen interest in learning and developing new skills, keeping up with advancing technology.
  • This position typically involves working in a garage or shop setting, with exposure to various weather conditions and noise levels.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more, with assistance) and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoors and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of heavy machinery and vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and other systems.
  • Replace or repair defective parts using hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Travel to various remote sites for field repairs as needed.
  • Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment engines and components.
  • Rebuild hydraulic systems and related components.
  • Develop and maintain routine and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in safety training and stay up-to-date with industry standards.
  • Communicate clearly with mechanical technicians and team members during repair operations.
  • Share knowledge and train technicians and support staff members as required.
