Position Summary Reporting to the Manager of Software Engineering, the Intermediate Software Engineer (Portal) will join Trulioo as a key contributor to our Portal engineering team. The Portal team is responsible for developing a distributed cloud platform that supports customer-facing and internal portals, identity authorization and authentication, service and big data infrastructure. Trulioo utilizes the best available tools, instruments, and practices to create a world-class platform, and we are looking for the talent that will help us stay on the cutting edge of technology. This will be a full-time, permanent position working out of the Vancouver office on a hybrid model (3-days per week in the office).

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of software engineering experience developing enterprise-grade applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong experience with C#, .NET Framework, or Java with solid experience with microservices architectures and RESTful APIs
  • Solid experience with MySQL or other relational databases; familiarity with NoSQL databases is an asset
  • Hands-on experience with modern UI frameworks such as React, Bootstrap, Material UI and CSS with an understanding of micro frontend architectures
  • Proficiency with Git or similar version control systems
  • Strong background in unit testing and test automation, including automated testing of web services
  • A passion for writing clean, performant, and maintainable code with a strong focus on quality
  • Curious, adaptable, and eager to learn and apply new technologies
  • A strong collaborator and communicator - you work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AWS services such as API Gateway and Lambda
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols like OAuth2, OIDC, or SAML

Responsibilities

  • Join a high-performing engineering team focused on delivering high-quality, end-to-end software solutions that scale
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers, DevOps, QA, and Product teams to refine user stories into actionable tasks, then design, build, and ship features that meet business goals
  • Translate user story acceptance criteria into robust, reusable, and scalable solutions
  • Document your work and communicate design decisions to ensure alignment across the team
  • Contribute to and uphold coding standards and best practices that promote maintainability, performance, and testability
  • Participate in peer design and code reviews, sharing insights and learning from others
  • Identify technical and project risks early and work with the team to mitigate them effectively
  • Provide technical input on user stories, helping balance business needs and technical feasibility through thoughtful trade-offs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, reliability, and delivery predictability
