Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Intermediate Engineer (Mechanical & Piping) In this position, you will play a key role in providing engineering oversight and technical review of mechanical and piping systems for major capital projects within the company’s pipeline and facilities portfolio. The role supports project delivery by reviewing engineering work completed by EPC contractors and engineering consultants to ensure compliance with corporate standards, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements.

The position focuses on pipeline facilities, including pump stations, terminals, and associated piping systems designed in accordance with CSA Z662 Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems and regulatory expectations under the Canada Energy Regulator.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Province of Alberta and / or British Columbia
• 7–10 years of engineering experience in oil and gas, pipeline, or midstream facilities.
• Experience with mechanical equipment and piping design for pipeline facilities.
• Familiarity with CSA Z662 Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems
• Knowledge of pipeline station piping design, mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves and pressure vessels, piping stress analysis and materials selection, pipeline safety and integrity considerations.
• Strong technical review capability
• Ability to identify design risks and compliance gaps
• Collaborative teamwork within multidisciplinary project environments
• Understanding of regulated pipeline infrastructure projects.
• A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to projects regulated by the Canada Energy Regulator or provincial regulators is considered an asset.
• Experience working with EPC contractors and engineering service providers.

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical and piping engineering deliverables prepared by EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
• Ensure engineering work complies with corporate standards, CSA Z662 and applicable industry codes and regulations
• Provides technical input and comments on engineering documents including P&IDs, equipment datasheets, piping specifications and other associated documents.
• Support design and execution of mechanical and piping systems associated with pump stations, pig launcher and receiver systems, pressure relief and protection systems, and terminal and storage facilities.
• Support project compliance with regulatory frameworks administered by the Canada Energy Regulator.
• Ensure engineering documentation supports regulatory filings, internal audits, and project assurance processes.
• Assist with interpretation and application of CSA Z662 Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems requirements related to station piping and pipeline facilities.
• Participate in engineering design reviews, including, HAZOP and risk assessments, constructability reviews and 3D model reviews.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, civil, electrical, and operations.
• Support Supply Chain Management (SCM) team in selection of vendors and vendor document reviews
• Assist with resolution of engineering issues during project execution.
• Provide engineering input during construction and commissioning phases.
• Review field change requests, technical queries, and non-conformance reports.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to verify engineering intent and compliance with design specifications.
