About The Position

Our client is a leading Canadian retail and service organization with a large national footprint. They are seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join their finance team. This role will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end close activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information while contributing to continuous process improvements across the finance function.

Requirements

• Full-cycle accounting experience
• Experience with financial reporting
• Experience with account reconciliations
• Experience supporting month-end and year-end close activities
• Proficiency in IFRS
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Experience supporting internal and external audits
• Experience maintaining financial data within an ERP system
• Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement
• Collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances to identify trends and discrepancies.
• Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts and prepare supporting working papers.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
• Support internal and external audit requirements by preparing requested schedules and documentation.
• Maintain the integrity of financial data within the ERP system.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, procurement, and finance leadership.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
