Interior Design Specialist
About The Position
RealFood Hospitality, Strategy and Design (RFHSD) - part of the Troon family of brands - is excited to be adding an Interior Design Specialist to our team. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their design skill set, preferably in relation to the hospitality and foodservice industry, and who wants to translate that passion and expertise into phenomenal kitchen, bar and foodservice designs and client experiences. The Interior Design Specialist works closely with the entirety of the Design Team to support, and execute every scope of work offered to clients. They use their years of experience and expertise to understand our team and our clients, to help achieve hospitality design success. This is a seasonal position (6 months or less) with the potential to transition into a full-time permanent role, up to the discretion of the company's management team and Troon HR.
Requirements
- Minimum 1-5 years in a Senior or Mid-Level Design role or equivalent role at a different firm
- Possess excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills
- Bring experience working professionally with a diverse range of people, internally and externally
- Possess high levels of attention to detail
- Commitment to excellence, personally and in the work you produce
- Be able to multi-task and pivot quickly between projects, conversations, and tasks
- Ability to learn how to work to and design to a budget
- Ability to learn how to schedule your work and deliver accordingly
- Spatial problem solving with the ability to prepare alternative design solutions quickly
- Computer literate with the ability to learn new programs easily
- Interest in and knowledge of the hospitality industry
- Possess a strong desire to make an immediate impact as well as to make a lasting impression on the company
Nice To Haves
- Recent graduate from a FIDER accredited Interior Design program preferred
- Interest in gaining your NCIDQ Certification or State License Preferred
Responsibilities
- Report to the Interior Design Manager
- Assist in the development of concept design to meet owner’s requirements
- Prepare and update floor plans, furniture layouts, space plans, and design drawings using AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- Assist with FF&E sourcing, specification, procurement, and vendor coordination, including requesting quotes, pricing, lead times, samples, and product information.
- Create and maintain client-facing design presentations using Canva or similar presentation software, including concept imagery, finish and furniture selections, floor plans, budgets, and project updates.
- Production of design intent documents and design drawings through all phases
- Assist in developing and maintaining project budgets, FF&E estimates, procurement schedules, and pricing comparisons, and track project costs against approved budgets.
- Design to a given budget
- Prepare research and preliminary design studies
- Preparation of design presentations for approval
- Coordinate with internal and external consultants to integrate requirements and meet overall project objectives
- Undertake supervised site inspections and surveys
- Coordinate with a team of Design Managers, Design Specialist and Assistants
- Attend and participate in design workshops as required by your Design Manager
- Ensure information given to your team is accurate and meets client and project team requirements
- Help ensure office standards and appropriate levels of quality are met on each phase
- Producing consistent work on time, and to a high professional standard
- Assist with work programming and reporting on project progress
- Responsible for keeping the Interior Design Manager fully informed of decisions, deadlines, problems and solutions regarding all aspects of the project
- Attend and participate in design meetings and presentations including the taking of notes and minutes (including assembling and dispersing them in a timely manner)
- Gain proficiency of Troon Design Studio’s corporate values, positioning, and brand voice
- Gain proficiency of overall Troon sales processes and outcomes
- Gain proficiency in Salesforce for use as a tool to manage project, BD and sales efforts
- Support Design Team with Salesforce upkeep as needed
- Assist with developing and maintaining client relationships
