About The Position

We are seeking a Design Release Engineer (DRE) to support the development and integration of interior systems, with a focus on hard trim and overhead components. This role is responsible for driving product development from concept through production, ensuring quality, performance, and manufacturability. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented engineer with strong CAD experience, a systems mindset, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in product development or design engineering
  • Experience working with interior components or similar engineered systems
  • CAD & Product Definition: Proficiency in NX or similar CAD tools
  • Strong understanding of 3D/2D design and component interfaces
  • Release & Change Management: Experience with BOM management, part release, and engineering change processes
  • Dimensional Engineering & Problem Solving: Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturing feasibility
  • Experience resolving fit, finish, and ergonomic issues

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with injection molded or compression molded components
  • Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., DFSS, Red-X)
  • Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA
  • Previous experience in a Design Release Engineer (DRE) role

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and integration of interior components, including hard trim and overhead systems
  • Manage product lifecycle activities, including: Requirements definition Design execution Testing and validation
  • Develop and maintain CAD models and product definitions using 3D/2D design tools
  • Manage part release and change control processes, including bill of materials (BOM) updates and configuration management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and suppliers
  • Ensure designs meet requirements for fit, finish, ergonomics, safety, and performance
  • Conduct dimensional analysis, including GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
  • Support manufacturing feasibility reviews and resolve design and build issues
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods to address quality and design c hallenges
