About The Position

This is a 1st shift opportunity for an Interim Tool and Die Team Leader. The role involves overseeing the setup and safe operation of the department, delegating authority and responsibility while maintaining control, and organizing the department to meet production schedules and quality goals. The position requires coordination of individual and departmental efforts, and a strong understanding of the technical aspects of equipment, processes, and tools. Collaboration with manufacturing, maintenance, tool & die, and management is essential for efficient plant operation. The role also includes completing various reports and paperwork, training and coaching team members, verifying machine parameters, conducting cycle checks, promoting teamwork, quality, good housekeeping, and a safe work environment. The team leader will assist the Area Manager in cost-saving initiatives, has the authority to manage production operations, address issues, and use measuring instruments to ensure customer requirements are met. Daily team meetings, job assignment rotation, and performance evaluations are also key responsibilities. The position promotes a positive work environment and continuous improvement, ensuring adherence to safety rules, PPE usage, and TS16949 standards. Communication and coordination with other departments and the flow of information are critical. The role also involves coordinating council members to keep teams informed and providing input opportunities. Problem-solving skills and knowledge of the organization's structure, policies, and resources are necessary. The team leader will work with area managers on job assignments, performance, maintenance, and inventory needs, while maintaining cooperative and respectful relationships with all team members.

Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Able to attend a vocational program to complete the necessary training including but not limited to Positive Leadership, Quick Die Change, Team Building, Continuous Improvement, and Kaizen participation.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Candidate must successfully pass the required testing and interview process.
  • Good attendance record is required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the set up and safe operation of the department.
  • Delegate authority and responsibility while maintaining control.
  • Organize department for meeting production schedules and quality goals.
  • Coordinate the efforts of individuals and the department.
  • Work with other manufacturing, maintenance, tool & die, and management members to assist in the efficient operation of the cell(s) and plant.
  • Complete all pertinent paperwork in an accurate and timely manner: up-time sheets, Production reports, tags, checklists, pareto charts, efficiency reports, etc.
  • Teach, train, coach and assist team members in the set-up procedures and audit the teams performance.
  • Know and verify the machine parameters including palm button safety.
  • Responsible for periodic cycle checks.
  • Promote teamwork, quality, and good housekeeping and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Assist Area Manager in cost saving activities by generating ideas and assisting in implementation.
  • Start and stop production operations, address operational and quality issues, uses gages and other measuring instruments as required for insuring customer requirements are maintained.
  • Complete checklists and pareto charts to document the status of production parts or machinery, and to directly seek assistance from all available plant resources to ensure the daily operation of the team.
  • Lead daily team meetings in planning and communicating team activities for the shift.
  • Coordinate rotation of job assignments for team members.
  • Evaluate each team member’s performance according to the evaluation schedule.
  • Promote a positive work environment as well as promote continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain a safe working environment including the use of PPE, and compliance with all safety rules and procedures.
  • Ensure that all team members adhere to and update as needed, all TS16949 operator and work instructions, tagging, forms and logs to maintain compliance as required.
  • Communicate and coordinate the flow of information to and from other areas of the organization for the team.
  • Coordinate the activities of council members in keeping team members informed and provides opportunities for input.
  • Must have problem solving skills and be able to generate unique alternative solutions.
  • Must have knowledge of the organization's structure, policy culture, resources and information sources.
  • Work with area managers in areas of job assignments including performance issues maintenance, and inventory needs.
  • Maintain cooperative attitudes with employees.
