Interim Supply Chain & Procurement Director

VDS Consulting GroupPittsburgh, PA

About The Position

Margin is leaking through the supply base and the portfolio company either does not know where or cannot move fast enough to stop it. This role requires finding, capturing, and implementing solutions to stop margin loss, and establishing a sourcing function that sustains these improvements. The position is closely tied to EBITDA, with sponsors expecting quantified, validated savings against a real baseline that impacts the P&L. The role involves full spend baseline and category segmentation, vendor contract renegotiation, supply base diversification, raw material strategy, inventory strategy, implementation of demand and inventory forecasting tools, sales and operations planning, and supplier performance management.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in supply chain, procurement, or integrated sourcing.
  • Director-level ownership experience.
  • Demonstrated, verifiable savings capture (ability to detail baseline, mechanism, and P&L landing).
  • Category depth in direct materials relevant to industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience standing up or repairing S&OP.
  • Working knowledge of planning systems and forecasting tools.
  • Sufficient technical fluency to evaluate vendor claims.
  • Comfort renegotiating from a weak position when the supplier is aware of it.
