About The Position

The Manager, The Ford, reporting to the Director, The Ford, is responsible for developing, managing, and supporting cultural and community programs at The Ford. This role provides administrative, logistical, and strategic support to various access initiatives, including FordLab and community engagement initiatives.

Requirements

  • B.A. in Theatre Arts, Music, Concert Production, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of experience in event production, community program management, and application-based initiatives.
  • Experience in hiring, training, and supervising entry-level staff.
  • Strong familiarity with the Greater Los Angeles arts and cultural landscape.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the arts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, adaptive, and resourceful, with problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of financial processes, budgeting, and accounting principles.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for events and rehearsals.

  • Second-language fluency is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leads project design and execution for community-focused initiatives such FordLab and community engagement initiatives on and off stage.
  • Collaborates on program development, research, and season design, emphasizing local artist and partner initiatives, including the development of recruitment programs, conducting artist research, and engaging in community outreach for FordLab by attending external events.
  • Responsible for setting measurable goals and benchmarks for community programs, providing regular progress reports, and developing recommendations to Director and Associate Director as part of the Community Engagement strategy.
  • Oversees community program budgeting, including tracking expenses and financial reconciliation.
  • Manages administrative logistics for cultural and community programs, including maintaining artist/partner database in Salesforce, recruitment, and selection processes.
  • Responsible for managing the research and strategic development efforts for community programming at The Ford, ensuring data-driven decision-making and impactful initiatives.
  • Responsible for overseeing artist payments and deliverables are executed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with venue operations staff, including the Associate Director, House Manager and seasonal Artist Venue Assistants.
  • In partnership with the Director, The Ford, serves as Artist Liaison for performances and rehearsals for community programming at The Ford.
  • Supports Director with logistics and execution of lease required meetings, reporting and events including but not limited to Community Engagement Meeting, County, Parks and Neighborhood Engagement Plan.
  • Manages logistics and planning for contractual community events within season artist partnerships.
  • Supports in internal and external venue visits, including leading walk through’s with artists, agents and coordinating efforts with Production.
  • Provides logistical/administrative oversight for The Ford: Implementing department calendar and scheduling of special initiatives
  • Supports Admin team in invoice processing, oversee coding and submission of invoices via LA Phil’s Accounts Payable Software PN3 as needed
  • Responds to general inquiries about Ford programs
  • Other duties as assigned
