About The Position
The mandate is to step in quickly when something breaks in the accounting function, such as a sudden departure, a balance sheet that will not reconcile, or a system conversion that requires additional resources. The role involves stabilizing the close process, correcting any issues, and ensuring the accounting function produces reliable numbers. Speed of deployment is critical, as these placements often move within days.
Requirements
- 10+ years in accounting, with at least 3 in a controller or assistant controller role
- Manufacturing environment experience, including inventory and cost accounting
- A record of cleaning up genuinely messy books, not just maintaining clean ones
- Hands-on ERP experience — you can work in the system, not just review its output
- Ability to start on short notice and be on site five days a week
Nice To Haves
- CPA strongly preferred
- ERP conversion or migration lead experience
- PE portfolio company reporting
- Audit background
- Multi-entity or multi-site consolidation
Responsibilities
- Month-end and year-end close, including reconciliation and cleanup of legacy issues
- Balance sheet integrity — inventory, accruals, reserves, intercompany, and anything else that has drifted
- Accounting system transition or ERP financial module implementation and data migration
- Internal controls and process documentation
- Audit preparation and management of the external audit relationship
- Day-to-day management of the accounting team
- Support to the CFO or sponsor on reporting, diligence requests, and quality of earnings work
